I am currently recruiting on behalf of my client for a Field Service Engineer to join their growing engineering team based in Halifax, West Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly regarded and well-established business that operates on a global scale, supporting customers across a wide range of industries. This role offers the chance to travel internationally on a regular basis, working on specialist equipment at customer sites worldwide. You will typically spend 2 to 3 weeks per month overseas, with all travel, accommodation and expenses covered, along with additional allowances for staying away. When not travelling, you will be based from the UK site supporting workshop activities and preparing for upcoming work.

This position would be particularly well suited to an ex-military engineer with both electrical and mechanical skills who is looking for a role offering variety, autonomy and the opportunity to travel the world while applying their technical expertise in a customer facing environment.

Field Service Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Carry out service, calibration and maintenance activities on specialist equipment at customer sites in the UK and overseas.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults to ensure equipment operates effectively.
  • Carry out testing and commissioning activities to a high standard.
  • Provide technical support to customers both on site and remotely when required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures, quality standards and health and safety requirements.
  • Complete all documentation including service reports, timesheets and expenses accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and vehicle stock to ensure readiness for travel and site work.
  • Work closely with internal teams to support continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
Field Service Engineer Requirements:
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong electrical fault finding skills combined with good mechanical understanding.
  • Experience working on machinery, equipment or technical systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers.
