We are recruiting for an Engineer Surveyor to join a well-established nationwide business carrying out inspections and periodic examinations on lifting equipment and pressure systems across customer sites, living in or close to Sunderland, Durham & Hartlepool areas. This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically biased engineers who enjoy visiting a wide variety of customer sites and developing specialist technical expertise within the inspection and engineering surveying sector.
The company has a strong track record of employing ex-military engineers, with many of the existing Engineer Surveyors coming from Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force backgrounds.

The Role:
You will carry out inspections and periodic examinations on a range of lifting equipment and pressure systems across customer sites covering a mixed portfolio of businesses ranging from smaller independent companies through to larger commercial organisations. The role involves travelling to customer sites, completing detailed engineering inspections and producing technical reports outlining your findings and recommendations. You will be working in accordance with relevant industry regulations and standards including LOLER, PUWER, PSSR and COSHH. On average, overnight stays are required approximately twice per month, with all expenses fully covered.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong mechanical engineering background
- Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent
- Experience working with pressure vessels and lifting equipment
- Understanding of LOLER, PUWER, PSSR & COSHH regulations
- Strong communication and customer facing skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Willingness to learn new engineering disciplines
- Flexible approach to regional travel and occasional overnight stays
- Full UK driving licence
