My client is seeking a capable and motivated GSE Trailer Technician to join their workshop team at London Gatwick Airport. This role would suit an ex-military engineer with experience maintaining trailers, towed equipment, vehicles or plant who is looking to transition into the aviation sector. The position focuses on the inspection, repair and preventative maintenance of ground support trailers and dollies, rather than powered GSE.
The successful candidate will work within a safety-critical environment, supporting airside operations by ensuring all trailer equipment is maintained to the highest standards.
GSE Trailer Technician Responsibilities:- Carry out repair, inspection and maintenance of trailers and dollies, both airside and within the workshop.
- Identify, report and rectify mechanical and structural defects.
- Liaise with the Workshop Supervisor regarding additional work or parts required.
- Collect and return trailers for servicing and repair.
- Comply fully with Health & Safety regulations, Safe Systems of Work and ISO requirements.
- Previous experience maintaining trailers, towed equipment, vehicles or plant machinery.
- Experience of welding and fabrication.
- Strong awareness of operational health and safety.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Forklift licence desirable.
- Must be able to obtain airside security clearance.
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Attractive starting salary.
- Monday β Friday 9am β 5.30pm.
- 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays).
