Key objectives of the post
- The Marketing and Communications Officer will support DementiaFriendly Keighley (DFK) to raise awareness of its services, valuesand impact across the local community.
- The postholder will help ensure clear, inclusive and engagingcommunication with people living with dementia, carers, volunteers,partners, funders and the wider public.
- Working closely with the Service Delivery Manager and wider team,the role will contribute to promoting DFK services, activities,campaigns and volunteering opportunities. This will help the charityreach more people and strengthen its presence across Keighley andsurrounding areas.
Key responsibilities
Marketing and communications
- Develop and deliver engaging marketing and communications contentin line with DFK's values and Dementia Friendly principles.
- Update promotional materials, leaflets and newsletters, ensuringthey are available in the office and to all members of staff.
- Write new publicity and advertising material, including digitalcontent where appropriate.
- Develop banners and posters for events where appropriate.
- Manage and regularly update DFK's social media platforms, creatingcontent that promotes services, activities, events and awarenesscampaigns.
- Support the promotion of events, peer-support sessions andcommunity activities through social media, posters, newslettersand other appropriate channels.
- Ensure all communications are inclusive, accessible andappropriate for people affected by dementia.
Monitoring, reporting and administration
- Maintain records of marketing activity, engagement and reach tosupport reporting to the Board and funders.
- Support the collection of stories, feedback and case studies thatdemonstrate DFK's impact.
- Provide general administrative support linked to communicationsand promotional activity.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and trustees toensure consistent messaging.

Skills, knowledge, experience and attributes
Personal or professional understanding of dementia, or apassion for working with people living with dementia β
Experience of working in the charity or community sector β
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonalskills β
Excellent organisational and prioritising abilities β
Experience in a similar role, or a role requiring similarskills, involving a varied workload and an ability toself-organise β
Ability to work independently and proactively while alsodemonstrating strong teamwork skills β
Understanding and practical experience of using a range ofsocial media platforms and preparing press releases β
Experience of engaging with local media β
Basic graphic or content-creation skills and experience ofplatforms such as Canva
Experience of website content management β
Ability to use standard IT packages such as email, Word andExcel to at least a basic level β
A desire for a varied role within a small organisation whereother reasonable tasks may be required to ensure the serviceis delivered β
