The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Management Accountant who thrives in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and is passionate about driving insight, improvement and commercial impact – not just reporting the numbers. This is a pivotal role responsible for delivering high‑quality financial analysis and management reporting to support strategic decision‑making across the business. You’ll take ownership of budgeting, forecasting, performance monitoring and cost control processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance and continual improvement.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with the wider finance and project teams – maintaining accurate data, performing deep‑dive analysis and ensuring financial systems and processes run smoothly and efficiently.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis.
- Develop and deliver insightful financial reports to senior management and department heads, including monthly management pack.
- Monitor performance against budget and provide actionable insights.
- Perform profitability analysis and margin reviews.
- Monitor and control overheads, project costs and operational expenditure.
- Support any internal and external audit processes.
- Assist with the production of annual budgets and reforecasts.
- Educate and guide non‑finance managers on financial matters.
- Ensure financial practices comply with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., IFRS/GAAP).
- Prepare VAT returns or equivalent on a monthly basis for various tax jurisdictions (e.g., UK, OSS, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Australia, US).
- Prepare relevant balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review reconciliations performed by other team members.
- Business partner with the Wholesale department, including client profitability reviews, debt collection and invoice oversight.
- Manage weekly wholesale debtor processes (supplier reconciliations, debt chasing) and lead monthly reviews with stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and implement process and control improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
About You
You’re not just a numbers person – you’re naturally curious and love to understand the “why” behind the figures. You combine sharp analytical thinking with a commercial mindset, spotting trends, questioning assumptions and helping the business make better decisions. You’ll enjoy taking ownership in a fast‑paced, growing business and collaborating across teams to drive meaningful change.
Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial or management accounting roles.
- Able to perform under pressure and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proactive, self‑motivated and results‑driven, with integrity and professionalism.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications – advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience with ERP systems would be beneficial (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Knowledge of accounting principles and external regulations (GAAP/IFRS).
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability with a dedication to accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with senior stakeholders and non‑finance team members.
- Ability to analyse large sets of data.
- Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret and present large sets of data clearly.
Benefits
- Hybrid‑working policy (1‑2 days in the office).
- Annual Leave package increasing the longer you stay with us.
- Enhanced company maternity policy.
- Time given yearly to volunteer for a charity of your choice.
- Employee Discount: 50% off Stock and up to 90% off Seasonal Sample Sales.
