Overview
At DeMellier, we believe that data and financial insight are at the heart of smart, sustainable growth. As our Senior Commercial Finance & Business Insights Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving profitability and supporting decision-making across all areas of the business. This is a strategic and hands-on role, combining commercial finance expertise with analytical rigour. You’ll lead the development of profitability models by country, region, and handbag SKU, while providing the leadership team with the financial and business insights needed to make confident, data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities
- Commercial Finance & Profitability
- Develop and maintain detailed profitability models across countries, regions, channels, and handbag SKUs to support strategic planning and margin optimisation.
- Analyse sales, cost, and margin trends to identify areas of opportunity and recommend actions to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Partner with the e-commerce, retail, and wholesale teams to provide commercial insight into pricing, promotions, and product mix.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment between strategic objectives and financial outcomes.
- Business Insights & Performance Tracking
- Build and manage dashboards and reports that bring clarity to performance across markets, channels, and products.
- Work with data and operational teams to ensure financial and commercial data is accurate, consistent, and timely.
- Monitor key metrics and KPIs, highlighting performance trends and providing actionable insights for leadership and department heads.
- Support strategic initiatives with robust business cases and scenario modelling.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with teams across Finance, Operations, Merchandising, and Marketing to ensure alignment between financial performance and business strategy.
- Collaborate with IT and data partners to improve reporting systems and ensure the integration of financial and operational data.
- Present insights and recommendations in clear, visual, and compelling formats suitable for senior stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in a commercial finance, FP&A, or business insights role, ideally within retail, fashion, or consumer brands.
- Strong financial modelling skills with the ability to analyse profitability by country, region, and SKU.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker, or Tableau).
- Strong understanding of e-commerce, retail, and international trading dynamics.
- Comfortable working with data from multiple sources and ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills - able to turn data into clear, actionable insight.
- Highly collaborative, analytical, and commercially astute, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
