What will you do in this role?
  • Interpret design input information to produce control system designs.
  • Ensure systems designed and supplied are CE Compliant to the Machinery Directive.
  • Produce design and manufacturing programmes.
  • Produce all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design specifications, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications.
  • Design and produce electrical layout and schematic drawings using appropriate CAD tools.
  • Procurement of electrical control panels and field devices; and liaise with suppliers on technical matters.
  • Liaise and provide technical information to respective internal teams such as electrical installation supervisors, subcontractors, Project Sales, Project Engineers, Project Managers, Purchasing Department etc.
  • Provide technical backup to the service team as required, including bug fixes, enhancements, and modifications.
What are we looking for?
  • Proven experience as Controls Hardware Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer or similar role.
  • Essential: HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
  • Desirable: Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
  • Extensive proven hands-on experience working within an industrial automation environment.
  • Experience working with E-Plan, AutoCAD, MS Package.
  • A working understanding of Electrical and Electronic technical manuals & drawings.
  • Good understanding of distributed control systems and the principles of industrial networks used to connect and integrate control systems.
  • Understanding and use of relevant design requirements such as the Machinery Directive and its harmonised standards, with experience in FEM and BS standards preferred.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 20%) to customer sites within the Northern European region and occasional travel to other Dematic offices or facilities in the undertaking of duties.
