Controls design of material handling systems for Modernisation and Upgrade projects, to a given specification, within cost and time scale constraints, and to the customers' requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the solution meets the technical requirements of a material‑handling project and is carried out within cost and time scale constraints.
  • Interpret design input information (including mechanical design and data lists) to produce control system designs.
  • Produce all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design specifications, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications.
  • Design and produce electrical layouts and schematic drawings using appropriate CAD tools.
  • Procure electrical equipment including control panels and field devices.
  • Liaise with suppliers on technical matters.
  • Travel to customer sites to support the commercial team with new enquiries and conduct site surveys as part of the design process.

General Responsibilities

  • Liaise with systems sales and project engineers during the project phase.
  • Liaise with installation supervisors, sub‑contractors and customers during the order execution phase.
  • Liaise with production planning and purchase departments.
  • Provide technical information to any department, e.g. controls, mechanical, projects, service, spares.
  • Comply with company policy as defined in the Staff Handbook, Safety Manual, and Quality Assurance Manual.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Essential: Conversant with AutoCAD, E‑Plan, Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Essential: At least 2‑3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Desirable: Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
  • Desirable: Previous experience in the materials handling industry
  • Desirable: Good understanding of distributed control systems

Travel to the EMEA region may be required for supporting activities across the region.
