We are seeking enthusiastic and engaging individuals to join our museum team as Museum Visitor Experience Performers. In this role, you will bring history to life by portraying historical characters in period costume, interacting with visitors, and helping create memorable and immersive experiences for audiences of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
- Portray historical characters or represent specific historical periods as directed by the museum.
- Wear, maintain, and care for period costumes and related accessories.
- Engage with visitors in a friendly and professional manner, answering questions and encouraging participation.
- Support educational programmes, school visits, guided activities, and special events.
- Deliver short performances, demonstrations, or interpretive presentations when required.
- Follow all museum policies, including visitor service, safeguarding, and health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with museum staff and volunteers to ensure a high-quality visitor experience.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence interacting with visitors from diverse backgrounds and age groups.
- Ability to work weekends, bank holidays, and during special events as required.
- Physical ability to work comfortably in period costume for extended periods.
- A positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a professional approach to visitor engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training or experience in theatre, acting, performance, or related disciplines.
- Previous experience in museums, heritage attractions, tourism, or visitor-facing environments.
- Experience in improvisation, character interpretation, or live performance.
- Experience working with children, schools, or educational programmes.
- Preferably knowledge of more than one language.
