Do you enjoy designing electronics that power highly complex electro-mechanical systems? Are you looking for a role where you'll combine hands-on engineering with product innovation? Would you like to work on bespoke, high-value equipment in a collaborative R&D environment?

I'm working with a globally recognised precision engineering manufacturer that designs and manufactures highly sophisticated equipment used across a variety of advanced technology sectors. They're looking to appoint a Senior Electronics Engineer to join their expanding R&D team in Leicester. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development and ongoing evolution of technically challenging products, working across electronics, firmware and systems engineering.

The Opportunity

This is far more than a traditional electronics design role. You'll be involved throughout the complete product lifecycle—from concept development and prototyping through to manufacture, customer support and continuous product improvement. Working alongside Mechanical, Software and Manufacturing Engineers, you'll solve complex engineering challenges while helping shape the next generation of products.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and develop electronic control systems and embedded firmware for complex electro-mechanical equipment
  • Develop hardware including schematic capture, PCB design, prototyping and testing
  • Support product development from concept through manufacture and ongoing lifecycle support
  • Work closely with Mechanical, Software and Manufacturing Engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Troubleshoot complex system-level issues and implement robust engineering solutions
  • Carry out hands-on activities including prototype assembly, PCB rework, cable manufacture and product validation
  • Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Produce technical documentation and support engineering best practice

What They're Looking For

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or similar
  • 5+ years' experience developing electronics for electro-mechanical products or industrial equipment
  • Strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronics
  • Experience with PCB design, schematic capture and embedded hardware development
  • Knowledge of microcontrollers, communications protocols and motor control systems
  • Comfortable working in both laboratory and manufacturing environments
  • Proactive, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems
  • Experience with Altium Designer, CE/EMC compliance, SolidWorks or product lifecycle management would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Why Join?

  • Work on genuinely complex, bespoke engineering products
  • Excellent mix of R&D, hands-on engineering and product support
  • Modern engineering facilities and collaborative culture
  • Opportunity to influence future product development
  • Long-term career progression within an expanding engineering team
