The Role
You will design, develop and support mechanical components and assemblies from concept through to production, working closely with manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams. The role is hands-on and product-focused, offering exposure across the full development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- 3D design of components and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Creation of detailed manufacturing drawings (GD&T compliant)
- Supporting new product introduction (NPI) from concept, prototyping and testing through to production
- Applying DFM/DFA principles to optimise designs
- Creating and maintaining engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, specifications)
- Supporting production with issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives
- Working with suppliers to source components and resolve technical issues
What We’re Looking For
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment
- Strong SolidWorks capability (parts, assemblies, drawings)
- Experience creating GD&T-compliant drawings
- Understanding of machining, sheet metal, moulding and assembly processes
- Experience supporting production and working cross-functionally
- Exposure to NPI and prototyping
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
- Experience in precision engineering, instrumentation, metrology, opto-mechanical or high-accuracy systems would be advantageous.
