We are seeking a Test & Installation Engineer to join a leading scientific instrumentation company specialising in high-performance mass spectrometry systems. This is a hands-on, technical role where you will take newly assembled instruments through testing, commissioning, installation, and customer training for research labs worldwide. You will work on advanced analytical platforms including ICP-MS, GD-MS, IRMS, TIMS, and Noble Gas mass spectrometry, gaining experience across electronics, vacuum systems, software, and instrumentation diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
- Test and characterise mass spectrometers following detailed procedures
- Diagnose and resolve faults across hardware, electronics, detectors, software, and vacuum systems
- Produce factory and on-site test reports
- Install and commission instruments at customer laboratories globally (primarily USA, EU, China)
- Provide technical training to end users
- Support service teams with on-site or remote diagnostics when required
Skills & Experience
- Degree or equivalent experience in Physics, Chemistry, Electronic/Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM field
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Understanding of electronics, vacuum systems, or scientific software is advantageous
- Confident communicator with ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Comfortable with international travel and independent work
