We're supporting an established global engineering manufacturer in the recruitment of a Manufacturing Manager to lead its machine shop operation in Leicester. The business designs and manufactures complex, high-value equipment for customers across a range of advanced technology sectors. The Role
- You'll lead a team of 25+ across CNC machining and grinding, driving improvements in quality, cost, delivery, productivity and safety.
- The business is looking for someone with strong day-to-day manufacturing leadership with a forward-thinking approach to Lean, change management, CAPEX and modern manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and motivate the machine shop team to achieve quality, cost and on-time delivery targets.
- Take ownership of CNC machining and grinding operations, ensuring efficient use of people, equipment and capacity.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement and change initiatives across the operation.
- Manage and improve manufacturing KPIs, identifying opportunities to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Support CAPEX, equipment upgrades, new technology and longer-term manufacturing improvement projects.
About You
- 5+ years' experience leading a machine shop, CNC machining or precision engineering manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical understanding of CNC machining, grinding, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience delivering Lean, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma or Kaizen initiatives.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience managing and developing sizeable manufacturing teams.
- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering.
