The Opportunity
This is a key technical role within the business, focused on the development of complex electro-mechanical products from "blank sheet of paper" concept design through to production. You will combine hands-on engineering with project leadership, mentoring and cross-functional collaboration, helping shape both future products and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead concept generation, mechanical design and development activities for complex engineered systems
- Deliver innovative engineered solutions across the full product development lifecycle
- Take technical ownership of projects, ensuring delivery to quality, cost and schedule targets
- Lead technical reviews and provide mentoring to engineers and contractors
- Work closely with electronics, software, manufacturing and operations teams
- Support continuous improvement of engineering processes, standards and best practice
Skills & Experience
- Strong mechanical design capability with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience developing precision electro-mechanical or high performance engineered products
- Strong understanding of systems engineering and full product lifecycle development
- Experience using FEA for structural, stiffness or vibration analysis
- Proficient with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA or Creo
- Strong communication skills with experience working across multidisciplinary teams
Technical Background
- Precision engineering or complex mechanical systems
- Drives, motion or control systems
- Manufacturing engineering and materials selection
- PDM systems and engineering analysis tools such as MATLAB
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or similar discipline
- 5+ years experience in a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineering role
