The Company

An established and internationally respected engineering manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Manager to lead its machine shop operations in Leicester. The business designs and manufactures complex, high-value equipment for multiple advanced technology sectors and continues to invest heavily in its production capability. This is a key leadership role offering the opportunity to drive performance, introduce new ideas and support the ongoing development of both people and processes.

The Role

You will lead a skilled production team, ensuring the delivery of high quality components on time and to cost, while driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

  • Lead and develop the machine shop team to achieve quality, delivery and productivity targets
  • Oversee CNC machinery and grinding operations, ensuring best practice and safe working standards
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to optimise performance
  • Monitor and improve KPIs across quality, cost, delivery and efficiency
  • Support capital investment projects, equipment upgrades and process innovation

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Min. 5 years experience managing a machine shop or precision engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, grinding, materials and manufacturing processes
  • Proven experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen or similar improvement methodologies
  • Confident leadership style with experience managing teams of 20+ employees
  • Engineering qualification (Degree, HNC, HND) or equivalent experience
