A global manufacturer of complex capital equipment is seeking an experienced Buyer to join its supply chain function. The business designs and manufactures highly engineered products for demanding global markets and forms part of a large, well-established international industrial group.
This role will focus on managing routine and strategic suppliers, controlling lead times and ensuring continuity of supply in line with operational and commercial objectives.
The Role
As Buyer, you will be responsible for day-to-day purchasing activity across a defined supplier base. You will work closely with planning, engineering and operations teams to ensure materials are available to support production schedules, while also driving continuous improvement across supplier performance, cost and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of routine and approved suppliers to support production and business demand.
- Place and manage purchase orders using an MRP/ERP system.
- Control and negotiate lead times, pricing and delivery schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply, quality or delivery issues.
- Work cross-functionally to support inventory, cost and service-level objectives.
- Contribute to supply chain improvement initiatives and standard purchasing processes.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a Buyer or Materials Buyer role within manufacturing or engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and supply chain processes.
- Understanding of lead time management, inventory control and supplier performance.
- Confident communicator able to work with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Proactive, organised and solutions-focused with a strong can-do attitude.
