Location: London – offices in Perivale (NW London) and Holborn (Central London)
Position Overview
The scripting team is focused on creating English scripts for cinema, streaming and broadcast clients. As a scripting editor, you will be responsible for the proofing of scripts transcribed by other editors. You must also be able to transcribe English dialogue to required formats. With your impeccable English writing skills, passion for entertainment media content, attention to detail and sensitivity to viewer experience, you will ensure all deliverables adhere to company and client specifications and industry best practices. As the successful applicant for this position, you will also be cross trained in subtitle creation to ensure continuity on high-profile projects. This is a UK London-based role. We have offices in Perivale, West London and Central London. You must be able to commute, although it’s envisaged that some remote working will be possible.
Role And Responsibilities
- Perform QCs of transcribed English scripts.
- Conform scripts to subtitle formats when required.
- Fact-check and verify key names and phrases, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Transcribe dialogue for a variety of script formats.
- Ensure client expectations for quality and on-time delivery are met.
- Provide constructive feedback to other English scripting editors.
Key Requirements
- The ideal candidate will have a passion for global cinema and television, as well as:
- Bachelor of Arts degree or relevant equivalent experience.
- Experience transcribing and/or proofing scripts is preferable, although full training will be provided.
- English native speaker or ILR Level 5 proficiency.
- Exceptional audio sensitivity – ability to understand a variety of English accents, including regional accents from the US, UK, Australia and other English-speaking regions.
- You should be detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks and make sound judgment calls while working to deadlines.
- The ability to work autonomously, but to communicate effectively with peers, coordinators, and managers where appropriate.
- Well-rounded knowledge of historical and contemporary events, cultural references, slang, idiom.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office and similar.
- You should be able to learn new systems quickly.
- Background in audiovisual and film production an asset.
- Second language skills an advantage.
