Due to continued growth and several recent project awards, Delton Power is seeking a Lead HV Electrical Fitter / Supervisor to join our team within the Wessex region of SSEN (Dorset & Wiltshire). This is a permanent, site‑based position. You will be responsible for the construction and installation of HV (11kV – 132kV) electrical apparatus in substations, leading a team of HV fitters and mentoring trainees.
Key Responsibilities- Construction & Installation: Leading a team responsible for constructing electrical apparatus within substations (11kV – 132kV).
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all projects adhere to safety regulations, operational safety rules, and CDM regulations.
- Receipt of Safety Documents: Supervising a working party under a safety document (LOA / PTW) in substation environments.
- RAMS: Preparation of site‑specific risk assessments & method statements, and point of work risk assessments (POWRA).
- Earthing Systems: Installation and testing of above‑ground and below‑ground earthing systems, exothermic welding, brazing and compression.
- Team Leadership: Leading a team of HV fitters that will report to you, and mentoring & guiding trainees into HV fitters.
- Travel & Site Work: Travelling by appointment throughout the SSEN southern region, predominantly Wessex, to various substations.
- Experience working in live electricity substation environments (11kV – 132kV).
- Proven expertise in electrical distribution networks and high‑voltage systems.
- SSEN operational authorisations, minimum Cat 3A is essential.
- Site Supervisor (SSSTS) qualification is essential, Site Manager (SMSTS) is desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret single line, schematic & wiring diagrams and cable ferruling.
- Experience with DC battery systems, circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, multicore cables and control panels.
- High regard for safety protocols, construction site regulations, and CDM standards.
- Full UK driving licence, within commuting distance to travel to multiple work sites across the SSEN Wessex region.
- Further operational authorisations and/or related skills is desirable.
- Leadership skills and comfortable with managing direct reports.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Demonstratable experience in DNO power distribution projects and substation construction.
- 40 hour working week with overtime and travel time available.
- Annual profit/performance related bonus scheme, typically targeted between 3–5% of salary (2026: 7.5%, 2025: 6.5%).
