Overview
As Technical Delivery Director, you will oversee end-to-end delivery for a portfolio of OTT and media programmes, coordinating six delivery squads and ensuring alignment with product standards.
You will blend engineering credibility with leadership to drive architecture decisions, risk management, and client governance.
You’ll report on delivery progress, manage escalations, and mentor squad leads to scale delivery capability.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering delivery and client-facing stewardship, shaping how major sports and entertainment brands experience live and on-demand content.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery of client programmes, including scope, forecasts, launches, and releases
- Provide accurate delivery status across all squads and dependencies
- Maintain high delivery standards (Definition of Ready/Done, code contribution processes)
- Lead 6 delivery squads (40-45 engineers), set priorities, and remove blockers
- Forecast capacity and advocate for additional squad resources when needed
- Mentor engineers, review outputs, and model engineering excellence
- Governance and stakeholder management across Delivery Directors, Project Managers, and Product Management
- Build and maintain technical relationships with clients and escalate proactively when necessary
- Key requirements
- 10+ years in software engineering with mandatory foundation in Java, React Native, or Java Script/Type Script
- Delivery accountability for large-scale concurrent programmes (OTT/media tech)
- Experience leading through other technical and delivery leaders
- Solution architecture experience across digital platforms
- Senior client-facing credibility and ability to negotiate scope with fixed-date escalations
- Commercial awareness: margin, penalties, fixed-price vs T&M, supplier mix
- Agile delivery practice adapted to fixed-date commitments
