Full-time role with shift coverage requirements including evenings, weekends, and overnights as needed by global live sport schedules. Remote or hybrid working considered. This role reports into the VP B2B & B2C Support and leads Deltatre's Content Operations team (6 people, increasing during season peaks) in a 24/7 environment, supporting live and on-demand video content across sports and entertainment platforms. The team handles the full content lifecycle — ingestion, transcoding, metadata enrichment, playlisting, publishing, and front-end verification — and acts as the central link between internal delivery teams and external partners (content owners, broadcasters, federations).
As Content Operations Lead you will lead a globally distributed team through shift-based coverage of live operations, hold accountability for SLA delivery and content quality across platforms, and own the workflows and systems that keep the operation effective as it scales. The work combines people leadership, operational oversight, and technical coordination — the role needs all three at once.
Responsibilities
- Team leadership and operational management
- Lead, manage, and develop the Content Operations team, including shift planning across a 24/7 operation
- Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor team members; build capability and consistency over time
- Assign and oversee daily tasks across VOD processing, metadata preparation, audits, and publishing activities
- Act as the escalation point for operational issues and provide real-time decision‑making support
- Content lifecycle (Live and VOD)
- Oversee the full VOD lifecycle: media ingestion, transcoding, metadata enrichment, playlisting, publishing, and front-end verification
- Ensure accurate and timely scheduling, onboarding, and validation of live and upcoming events (daily, weekly, seasonal)
- Maintain visibility of all content across platforms, ensuring availability and seamless playback for global audiences
- Support live operations with real‑time monitoring, troubleshooting, and delivery coordination
- Metadata, editorial, and creative oversight
- Set and uphold metadata standards across all content (titles, descriptions, tags, geo‑restrictions)
- Oversee preparation of weekly content checklists, fixture updates, and editorial summaries
- Guide creation of editorial content (match descriptions, highlights) — ensuring consistency, neutrality, and clarity
- Supervise production of visual assets (hero images, thumbnails, promotional graphics) aligned with platform and brand guidelines
- Publishing, playlisting, and content presentation
- Oversee publishing workflows, including playlist creation, ordering logic, and front-end presentation
- Ensure all content — including shoulder programming such as pre/post‑game shows and highlights — is correctly published and displayed
- Quality assurance and audit
- Implement and oversee regular audit checks on playback, metadata accuracy, and front-end presentation
- Maintain consistency across systems and platforms through daily and weekly validation
- Keep detailed documentation of content, issues, and operational activities
- Stakeholder management and communication
- Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders (content owners, broadcasters, federations)
- Provide real‑time updates, reporting, and escalation of risks to senior management
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure content acquisition, ingestion, and delivery requirements are met
- Performance, reporting, and financial oversight
- Track and report on SLAs, operational KPIs, and content performance metrics
- Produce regular reports (daily, weekly, monthly) and end‑of‑month reconciliations
- Review and approve third-party costs and invoicing related to content operations
- Systems and technical oversight
- Oversee platform operations across the full delivery chain — ingestion, transcoding, monitoring, distribution
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and ensure smooth integration with external systems
- Support the creation of proof-of-concepts demonstrating platform capabilities through branded content environments and workflows
- Identify and implement continuous improvements to tools, workflows, and operational efficiency
Requirements
- You have led content operations in a live broadcast environment before. You know what makes a 24/7 operation effective and what makes it slowly fall apart. You can hold quality across hundreds of pieces of content during a live event, and you can do this without losing the people doing the work.
- Required
- 3+ years' experience in Content Operations, Media Management, or similar environments
- Demonstrated leadership experience — managing, training, and mentoring teams
- Solid understanding of content ingestion, metadata management, publishing workflows, and delivery systems
- Experience working with live and VOD content in a deadline-driven, shift-based environment
- Clear organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Clear communicator across both technical teams and external stakeholders
- Comfortable with broad technical work — troubleshooting, system navigation, integration
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and content management systems
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or comparable design tools
- Knowledge of media rights and acquisition processes
- Experience working with international broadcasters or federations
- Background in proof-of-concept development for platform sales or client conversations
- Genuine interest in sport and entertainment content — useful for editorial judgement
Who Thrives Here
Content operations at Deltatre sits at the intersection of live event tempo, system complexity, and editorial judgement. The visible work is content getting published on time; the work that matters is the structural — what gets documented, what gets automated, what gets escalated upstream when a pattern shows up. People who do this well combine operational steadiness with calm authority, and they are honest about what is working and what is not.
A successful Content Operations Lead at Deltatre tends to be patient with people development (you are explicitly here to build a stable team, not rescue every shift yourself), protective of the team's time and focus when external pressure mounts, and curious about how the systems and workflows could be better. The role rewards steady judgement and structural thinking more than heroics.
