Finance Manager (Maternity Cover 12 months)

Position

Reporting to the Group Head of Accounting, based in Italy, the Finance Manager will manage the UK accounting function and have responsibility for the UK entities during the period of maternity cover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Month end closing processes – journal posting, prepayments, fixed assets and depreciation
  • Review of bookkeeping including sales ledger, purchase ledger, and bank reconciliation
  • Support the external audit process for the UK entities
  • Preparation of financial statements for UK entities (excluding Holding companies) including consolidation of two branches
  • Work with external tax agent for corporation tax returns preparation and reviewing final tax computations
  • Management of two direct reports (UK and India)
  • Manager oversight of Indian branch, including payroll, audit, payment approvals, involvement in audit and financial statements and supporting as needed
  • Ownership of payroll process for 2 UK entities, working closely with HR; including overtime calculations, ensuring changes are communicated to the external payroll provider, reviewing and finalising including payments and journal booking
  • Supporting with zero hours payroll as required including covering when necessary
  • Supporting the Accounts Receivable as needed with invoicing and queries
  • Review/complete UK quarterly VAT for four entities & ad hoc statistical returns
  • Oversight of the Accounts Payable process, including review and authorisation of payments
  • Cash management of the UK entities
  • Work alongside Consolidations Manager on Intercompany and monthly closing support
  • Work with Procurement team to ensure company policies and procedures are followed
  • Work with FP&A team on monthly reporting queries as and when required
  • Support HR team with tax and payroll queries and ad hoc tasks, provide advice as needed

Requirements

  • Hands-on and proactive approach, must have a willingness to be involved in all aspects of the work, regardless of seniority or task level
  • IT literate with excellent Excel skills – confidently uses SUMIFS, SUMIF, COUNTIF, lookups, pivot tables, and can manipulate large quantities of data and summarise
  • Effective communicator – the role will require interaction with various senior management and key stakeholders in addition to finance reporting lines
  • Previous experience in multi-currency environment
  • Experience of year end audit and liaison with auditors and tax advisors
  • Knowledge of NetSuite (ERP) desirable but not essential
  • Accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or studying towards
  • Previous experience within technology/media sector desirable but not essential
