We’re looking for a reliable Vegetation / Mower Operator to join our Canterbury Greenspace Services team, supporting the maintenance of roadside vegetation and public spaces across the Canterbury region.

This is a hands on role suited to someone who enjoys physical work, working as part of a team, and contributing to well-maintained communities.

About the Role
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work as part of a team delivering mowing, spraying, and general vegetation and labouring services. You’ll operate plant and equipment safely and efficiently while ensuring work is completed to a high standard and in line with council and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Mowing, spraying, and general vegetation control
• Undertaking manual labouring duties as required
• Operating vehicles, plant, and equipment safely and legally
• Following all health and safety procedures and site requirements
• Identifying and reporting hazards, incidents, or equipment issues
• Completing accurate timesheets and job records
• Working collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and stakeholders
• Providing a professional and courteous service to the public and customers

What You’ll Bring

• Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence
• Physically fit and capable of outdoor/manual work
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and self‑motivated
• Enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions

Desirable but not essential

• Drivers Licence Class 2
• W, T, R and/or D endorsements
• Growsafe (NZS8409) – Management of Agrichemicals Certificate
• Traffic Management (STMS) qualification
• National Certificate in Horticulture or similar experience
