This is a hands on, outdoor role where you’ll play an important part in maintaining urban drainage systems, waterbodies and public environments to a high standard. If you enjoy physical work, working outdoors, and making a visible difference in your community, this could be the role for you.

About the Role:

In this role you will carry out a range of agreed contract works and manual laboring duties, with a strong focus on urban drainage maintenance. You will work as part of a team and follow direction from the Contract Supervisor or Team Leader to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Inspection and electronic reporting of urban drains and waterbodies
  • Litter and debris collection and disposal
  • Identification and removal of aquatic weeds
  • Weed spraying and vegetation maintenance
  • Inspection and clearance of inlet and outlet structures
  • General environmental and manual labouring tasks as required
  • Operating vehicles, plant and equipment safely and legally
  • Accurate record keeping, including timesheets and reporting
  • Actively contributing to a safe, positive and professional team environment

What you need to succeed:

  • Full, clean Class 1 Driver Licence
  • Physically fit and capable of completing manual labouring tasks
  • Experience in environmental labouring, gardening, spraying or similar outdoor work
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet work quality expectations
  • A strong work ethic and team-first attitude

Desirable:

  • W, T, R and/or D endorsements
  • Growsafe (NZS 8409) – Management of Agrichemicals Certificate
  • National Certificate in Horticulture or similar
  • TMC experience
  • Knowledge of pest plants and aquatic weeds
