Role Overview
Carmarthenshire County Council is recruiting a Harbour Operative to support the safe, efficient and compliant operation of Burry Port Harbour within the Outdoor Recreation Service. Working with the Harbourmaster team, the role involves day‑to‑day harbour operations, infrastructure and pontoon maintenance, customer engagement and supporting harbour safety, including working on a rota and providing out‑of‑hours emergency cover. Duties include maintaining harbour facilities, monitoring moorings and compliance, responding to incidents, assisting with events and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and public safety. The ideal candidate will have marine experience, strong practical and communication skills, and hold RYA Powerboat Level 2 or RYA Day Skipper. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a unique coastal environment and contribute to the safe management of a busy harbour. Level 2 - Basic level of conversational Welsh required. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
