General Manager - Blackburn, Lancashire
Job Type: Full Time
WE'RE HIRING β GENERAL MANAGER, DELTA TRAINING CLUB
Delta Training Club (DTC) is looking for someone exceptional to take the lead in running, developing and growing our gym.
This isn't a role for someone who simply wants to keep things ticking over.
We're looking for someone who will take real ownership of DTC β someone commercially minded, full of ideas, brilliant with people and passionate about creating a training environment that members want to be part of.
You'll have the freedom and responsibility to shape how DTC develops β from growing and retaining our membership, developing new classes and reviewing membership packages, to managing timetables, coaches, events, marketing, social media and the day-to-day operation of the facility.
You'll be responsible for the whole member journey and for making sure DTC is welcoming, exciting, well-run and constantly moving forward.
That means getting involved in everything from the big decisions to the small details: spotting new revenue opportunities, understanding what's working (and what isn't), keeping the gym looking its best, making sure our digital presence reflects what happens inside the building, supporting and motivating our coaching team and building a genuine community around DTC.
And DTC isn't an ordinary gym.
DTC operates alongside The 180 Project, a charity using fitness, support and community to help people make significant changes in their lives.
The two need to work brilliantly together.
We're therefore looking for someone who understands that commercial success and social impact can sit side-by-side β growing a thriving fitness business while protecting the culture, community and purpose that make DTC different.
You'll take ownership of areas including:
- Membership growth, sales and retention
- Membership pricing, packages and promotions
- Member experience and community development
- Class programming and timetables
- Leading, coordinating and motivating our coaching team
- Gym systems and membership administration
- Marketing, social media and website content
- Events and competitions
- Facility standards, cleaning, maintenance and equipment
- Suppliers, stock and additional income opportunities
- Budgets, performance and commercial decision-making
- Developing new ideas, partnerships and opportunities for growth
- Working closely with The 180 Project team
We're less interested in somebody who can tick every box on a traditional Gym Manager job description and more interested in finding someone with energy, commercial instinct, leadership ability and the drive to make things happen.
Experience within the fitness industry would be a significant advantage, and an understanding of CrossFit, HYROX or functional fitness would be beneficial. But we're also interested in people with strong experience of running and growing a customer-focused business who genuinely understand what makes a great gym community.
We're entering an ambitious new phase for DTC and want the right person to help shape what comes next.
HOW TO APPLY
If you think you have the energy, commercial instinct and leadership skills to take ownership of DTC and help us achieve our ambitions for the gym, we want to hear from you.
Please send your CV, along with a link to a short video of no more than 3 minutes answering:
"You've just been appointed General Manager of DTC. What would your priorities be in your first 90 days, and what would you do to grow the gym?"
Your video can be shared using a platform of your choice, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or an unlisted YouTube link. Please make sure the link is accessible to us.
If you're unable to submit a video for any reason, please contact us and we'll be happy to arrange an alternative.
Candidates invited to final interview will also be given some information about DTC's current membership, pricing, timetable and financial position and asked to talk us through their ideas for developing the gym over the next 12 months.
We're not expecting you to arrive with all the answers. We want to see how you think, the opportunities you spot and the energy and ideas you could bring to DTC.
