Warehouse Operative/Equipment Preparation Technician

The Role
As a Warehouse Operative / Equipment Preparation Technician, you will be a key part of Delta Live’s Operations Team, ensuring our specialist rental equipment is serviced, prepared, and delivered to the highest standard for events and dry hires. This is a hands-on role that blends technical preparation, practical problem solving, and teamwork to make sure every piece of equipment that leaves our warehouse is event-ready. Success in this role means attention to detail, strong teamwork, and the ability to represent Delta Live professionally with clients, drivers, freelancers, and venue staff. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone with good technical knowledge of audio/AV kit, practical skills, and a proactive, can-do approach who thrives in a busy, collaborative environment.
Specific roles and responsibilities
- Assist with the servicing, preparation, cleaning, packing, and unpacking of the company’s rental equipment following established procedures.
- Deal efficiently with customers, drivers and others visiting the company’s premises to collect or return orders and equipment.
- Load and unload equipment from vehicles, including bulky and heavy technical kit, following safe manual-handling practices.
- Maintain and repair the full range of company’s rental stock.
- Check equipment prep lists to ensure all items are included, operational, and well-presented.
- Inspect returned equipment and log any shortages or damages.
- Keep all work areas clean and organised.
- Assist in areas of building maintenance and upkeep as required.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment at off-site venues when required.
- Be aware of and comply with all the company’s policies and procedures, paying attention to the Health and Safety Policy.
- Maintain confidentiality of all work-related information and act professionally in all situations.
- Identify any areas of our operation where you believe training and additional skills may be required to benefit yourself and the business.
- Provide feedback within immediate team and to Line Manager of any areas of improvement, development, or growth within the business.
Representing the company
- This role involves regular contact with customers, freelancers, and members of the public. You must be courteous at all times and represent Delta Live professionally.
- Maintain a professional standard of appearance and personal presentation.
- A positive, approachable attitude and a good sense of humour are an advantage in this role.
- Strong knowledge of audio and technical equipment (essential).
- Knowledge of lighting and AV equipment (advantageous).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to short-notice changes in working hours or schedules.
- Proactive and self-motivated, able to use initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, giving and receiving input as needed (vital).
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Practical ability in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook.
- Basic numeracy skills (required).
- Electrical knowledge is an advantage.
- Forklift licence is an advantage.
- Full, clean UK driving licence would be advantageous but not essential.
