SVP, Strategic Finance & Corporate Development
Senior Vice President of Strategic Finance and Corporate Development: right hand and deputy to the CFO at a private-equity-owned technology platform west of London.
£220k to £250k base, 50% bonus, management equity.
The Company
- Technology platform connecting hundereds of suppliers with over tens of thousands of business customers in more than 100 countries
- Revenue above $1bn, EBITDA margin above 20% and growing
- Private-equity-owned since a take-private several years ago, with a stated aim of being in a position for exit within two to four years
- Product platform rebuilt through a multi-year investment programme, cost base reset, efficiency phase nearing its end
- New Chief Revenue Officer in place and a Chief Strategy Office driving new initiatives
- Finance is now being asked to drive growth, EBITDA and equity value
The Role
- Reports to the CFO as the right-hand seat: stands in at internal meetings, presentations and conferences, and in time is able to hold the wheel
- Owns the annual strategic plan, the detailed budget, the quarterly forecast and the three-to-five year corporate strategy
- Direct responsibility for the FP&A team, with a coaching remit across finance and beyond
- Leads the business cases behind the decisions that matter: data monetisation, market entry, product prioritisation, pricing, M&A and partnerships
- Works embedded with commercial and product leaders, testing revenue and margin assumptions against contracts, pricing terms, renewal history and pipeline conversion
- Builds the framework for ranking investment, headcount and capital requests by risk-adjusted value, presented to the executive team, the Board and the owners
The Person
- 10 to 15+ years in FP&A, corporate strategy, investment banking, private equity or portfolio operations, consulting or commercial finance
- Personally owned a forecast cycle and personally built business cases and market sizing. Most people have one half. This needs both.
- Improved the quality of planning inputs in a private-equity-owned, turnaround or high-growth business, and has changed a function leader's number rather than reported on it
- Reads customer and vendor contracts and pricing schedules well enough to test the numbers directly
- Operates as a peer to function leaders: holds a line under pressure and manages the friction constructively
- Presents with authority to the C-suite and, ideally, to a Board or private equity owners
- B2B SaaS, payments or another transaction-based model is a strong plus, not a requirement
Location and Remuneration
- Thames Valley, west of London. Hybrid, with occasional trips abroad.
- £220,000 to £250,000 base, 50% bonus, competitive management equity units
