Housing Officer £33,818 Southend-on-Sea Full-Time Permanent We are looking for a Housing Officer to deliver effective housing management services that support residents to sustain their tenancies, understand their rights and responsibilities, and resolve tenancy issues appropriately. This will be achieved by building positive customer relationships, using early intervention and effective tenancy management, providing timely support and signposting, managing tenancies across a designated area, and pragmatically addressing concerns such as ASB, hoarding, safeguarding and unauthorised alterations in line with policies and procedures. What you'll be doing * Creating and sustaining positive customer relationships –Be the key contact for customers managing a ‘patch’ which is tenure blind and being the lead for all matters which affect customers within that remit. * Compliance - making sure customers and those residing in and visiting their properties comply with their conditions of tenure - promoting and encouraging ‘positive’ behaviours through early intervention and where necessary legal enforcement action. * Creating and sustaining effective internal and external relationships – including police, social services, Local authorities, fire service, and supporting agencies etc * Assisting with the effective and speedy turnaround of empty properties – accompanied viewings, transfer inspections etc, swift lets and ensuring you are actively encouraging properties to be let as soon as possible. * Health and Safety - Ensure all is done to safeguard our customers in a variety of ways such as referrals to support agencies and reporting any Health and Safety concerns to the relevant department. What we are looking for * Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills. * Excellent administration and record keeping skills. * Able to communicate effectively and sensitively with customers, staff and external agencies – orally, and in writing. * Team working, with internal and external partners / customers / colleagues. * Ability to use your initiative and work with a minimum of supervision. Please note the office expectancy of this role is as follows: This role will initially be office based for the training period then the office expectancy would be a minimum of 2 days a week, or as per business need.
