Responsibilities:

As the Chief Engineer, you’re the go‑to leader for all things related to Engineering & Facilities. You’ll oversee maintenance operations, manage regulatory compliance, support sustainability and energy‑saving initiatives, and make sure our hotel runs safely, efficiently, and reliably every day. You’ll work closely with the General Manager to protect assets, improve guest satisfaction, and drive strong operational performance. This role is both strategic and hands‑on - about 60% leadership/planning and 40% practical technical work.

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead the engineering function with clear priorities aligned to hotel goals and business needs.
  • Identify operational improvements, anticipate challenges, and help create long‑term engineering strategies.

Facilities & Maintenance Management:

  • Oversee all engineering operations including asset protection, regulatory compliance, health & safety, and sustainability.

Energy & Sustainability:

  • Develop and deliver a hotel‑wide Energy Action Plan, including signature sustainability projects.

Capex & Project Delivery:

  • Work with Finance and the above property Engineering team to build a strong CapEx plan (Cap10/BE).
  • Prepare emergency PARs and manage day‑to‑day project execution.
  • Ensure all projects meet safety, quality, and budgeting expectations.

Operational & Administrative Tasks:

  • Analyse data, complete reports, and present findings as required.
  • Follow up on audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Stay compliant with UK disability, H&S, environmental, and engineering regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and operational records.

Working Conditions:

Must be flexible with working hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency call‑outs.

Job Experience Requirements:

2+ years of hotel facilities management experience.
