Background: Our client, a prominent GCC-based Pension Fund, is seeking an investment professional to join their Private Credit team. Reporting to the Private Credit Head, this individual would be responsible for executing their International Private Credit investment strategies through active external management. This individual will focus on sourcing opportunities, conducting due diligence, and managing external relationships to optimise portfolio performance while ensuring alignment with their return objectives.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead sourcing efforts alongside the Private Credit Head by leveraging external networks and evaluating their suitability for investment mandates.
- Identify and collaborate with external asset managers to execute private credit investment strategies in line with the pension fund's objectives.
- Lead due diligence on external private credit managers, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of their track records, operational capabilities, strategic alignment, and risk assessment, while reviewing analyses conducted by the Generalist Analyst.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with international asset managers to access specialized expertise, niche market opportunities, and innovative private credit strategies.
- Oversee the sourcing, evaluation, and management of private credit investments, ensuring alignment with the pension fund's investment strategy and risk-return profile.
- Align the execution of private credit strategies with the pension fund's broader investment objectives and risk management framework.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the Private Credit Head regarding adjustments to investment strategies based on market analysis and performance reviews.
- Guide the Generalist Analyst in executing private credit investment strategies, ensuring rigorous financial analysis that supports decision-making.
- Review and validate financial models and performance monitoring reports prepared by the Generalist Analyst, ensuring accuracy and strategic alignment with the pension fund's objectives.
- Provide mentorship and oversight to the Generalist Analyst, ensuring high-quality deliverables, alignment with investment objectives, and professional development.
- Engage with credit rating agencies, regulatory bodies, and advisors to ensure compliance with private credit risk standards and stay informed of global market developments.
Experience & Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in private credit investments, asset manager selection, or external management strategies.
- Experience in sourcing and evaluating private credit investment opportunities across multiple geographies and sectors.
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, underwriting methodologies, and portfolio optimization techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Finance, MBA or CFA designation is preferred.
