Job summary: This role is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and driving the success of business-to-business (B2B) web and mobile e-commerce development experiences that meet customer needs and deliver measurable business outcomes (conversion, AOV, retention, and lifetime value). You will own one or more e-commerce properties (e.g., brand sites, multi-brand storefronts, B2B portals) and work closely with design, engineering, marketing, merchandising, and operations to deliver and maintain scalable, high-performing online experiences.
You will identify product opportunities through customer research, analytics, market and competitive analysis, stakeholder input, and emerging e-commerce best practices. You will translate these insights into clear product vision, scope, roadmap, and detailed requirements, and you will guide from discovery to launch and iteration. This role requires a strong balance of business and technical understanding, with a focus on customer journeys, conversion optimization, site performance, and commercial impact. You ensure alignment with executive leadership and partner teams so that initiatives are prioritized, delivered, and measured effectively.
The Product Manager is primarily strategic and market oriented. You are accountable for:
- Product vision and strategy for the e-commerce experience
- Roadmap definition and prioritization
- Requirements and user stories for new features and optimizations
- Commercial and go-to market alignment for launches
You do not own detailed engineering design, firsthand coding, day-to-day site operations, or first-line customer support. Instead, you collaborate with external or internal project managers, engineering, UX, data/analytics, marketing, and operations teams to ensure successful execution of the product strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: In this role, you will:
- Identify and Prioritize Opportunities: Partner with stakeholders (marketing, merchandising, operations, customer support, finance) to uncover high value opportunities and pain points across the ecommerce funnel (acquisition, browsing, checkout, post purchase). Use data (web analytics, A/B tests, heatmaps, VOC) to quantify impact and inform prioritization.
- Own the E-Commerce Product Roadmap: Develop and maintain a clear, outcome driven roadmap for the ecommerce websites and related experiences. Balance strategic initiatives (platform upgrades, new capabilities) with incremental optimizations (UX, speed, merchandising tools).
- Conduct Market and Competitive Research: Monitor ecommerce trends, competitor sites, and best in class experiences across industries. Use insights to propose differentiated features in areas such as product discovery, personalization, checkout, subscriptions, and loyalty.
- Define and Communicate Product Vision and Requirements: Clearly articulate product vision, success metrics, and target customer segments. Write concise product requirements and user stories that reflect B2B customer journeys, business rules, and technical constraints. Ensure requirements are well understood by engineering, design, QA, and business stakeholders.
- Drive Cross Functional Alignment: Lead cross functional discussions to align on scope, priorities, tradeoffs, and timelines. Facilitate decisions that balance customer experience, technical feasibility, and commercial impact.
- Partner with Engineering, UX, and Data Teams: Collaborate with UX and product design to validate concepts through prototypes, user testing, and experimentation. Work with engineering to refine solutions, understand technical implications, and remove delivery blockers. Partner with analytics to define KPIs, and post-launch measurement plans.
- Enable Successful Launches and Adoption: Coordinate with marketing, merchandising, and operations on launch planning, content readiness, and change management. Ensure documentation, training, and support materials are in place for internal teams (e.g., site admins, customer service, sales). Contribute to go-to market narratives that clearly explain the value of new features to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support Iteration and Continuous Improvement: Monitor post release performance and feedback to identify enhancements and follow on tests. Lead controlled rollouts (canary releases) of new ecommerce functionality, validating performance and customer experience under real-world conditions while legacy systems remain active.
- Perform Related Duties as Assigned: Take on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Required Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated experience in B2B ecommerce product management or a closely related digital product role. Strong understanding of ecommerce fundamentals, including product discovery, search and navigation, product detail pages, carts, checkout, promotions, and post purchase flows. Familiarity with web and mobile UX best practices, responsive design, and performance considerations for transactional sites. Functional knowledge of order management systems. Ability to work effectively with engineering and technical teams, with enough technical fluency to discuss APIs, integrations.
