Overview: We are seeking an experienced Interim Registered Manager to lead and oversee a children's residential home in Colchester, Essex. The service operates using a trauma-informed and trauma-based care model. This assignment offers an opportunity to provide leadership and operational oversight within a well-established service that was most recently rated Good by Ofsted. The successful candidate will bring previous Registered Manager experience within a similar trauma-informed children's residential setting and be available to commence at short notice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and management of the residential home
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care in line with the home's trauma-informed approach
  • Maintain compliance with Ofsted requirements, children's home regulations, and safeguarding standards
  • Lead, support, and develop the staff team to ensure effective service delivery
  • Monitor and maintain quality assurance processes and care standards
  • Promote positive outcomes and effective care planning for children residing within the service
  • Manage risk appropriately while ensuring children's safety and wellbeing remain paramount
  • Liaise effectively with local authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals
  • Prepare for and respond to regulatory inspections and monitoring visits
  • Ensure the home continues to operate in accordance with its Statement of Purpose and regulatory obligations

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Registered Manager within a children's residential home; Direct experience working within a trauma-informed and trauma-based care model; Experience managing children's residential services subject to Ofsted regulation; Track record of maintaining regulatory compliance and positive inspection outcomes
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Children's Homes (England) Regulations and Quality Standards; Safeguarding legislation and procedures; Ofsted regulatory requirements; Trauma-informed approaches to supporting children and young people
  • Skills: Strong leadership and staff management capability; Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; Ability to provide stability and effective operational oversight; Strong organisational and compliance management skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience managing smaller residential provisions
  • Experience supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs
  • Previous experience improving service quality and inspection readiness
