The Role An exciting opportunity for a skilled Site Reliability Engineer to work with a large scale confidential Social Media Platform for an initial 6-month contract. Site Reliability Engineers (SRE’s) work on maintaining and improving the reliability, performance, and availability of software systems or online services. SREs use a combination of software engineering and systems administration skills to design, build, and operate infrastructure and applications that can handle high levels of traffic, scale seamlessly, and recover quickly from failures. SRE’s often focus on automating tasks, monitoring system health, analysing data to identify and prevent potential problems, and implementing best practices to keep services running efficiently. Core Skills We are looking for SRE’s that can code without utilising scripts, have software development evidence within previous experience, can write and execute scripts using the Bash Shell, evidence and experience in live support monitoring as well as troubleshooting and debugging. NoSQL database experience is recommended. Primary Skills Coding (Python, Golang, Java in that order of priority) NoSQL Shell Scripting Linux System Administration (capable of running diagnostics, config, and build on Linux images) Diagnostics, Troubleshooting, Debugging (including performance and network issues) Message Queues and/or Service Mesh (ie. Kafka and others) Monitoring & Observability (Grafana, Prometheus, etc.) Kubernetes Use Automation and Infrastructure as Code Secondary Skills Docker Distributed Systems (Consul, Zookeeper, MongoDB, Cassandra…) Knowledge of SaltStack Kubernetes Administration IR35 As a means of managing tax, commercial and reputational risks, Deloitte prohibits the use of Associates through Personal Service Companies (‘PSCs’).
