Role Overview:
An Underwriting Administrator plays acrucial support role within the underwriting department of insurance companiesor financial institutions. Their primary responsibility is to assistunderwriters by managing administrative tasks that facilitate the underwriting/ lending process.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation Management: Organizing, reviewing, and maintainingunderwriting files and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Take responsibility for assessing the current financialcircumstances of our customers who are applying for a lending facility andto provide well-reasoned and responsible credit lendingdecisions.
- Work with related business areas to provide guidance and feedbackin respect of improving the customer service journey
- Ensure all procedures and internal controls are adhered to,minimising fraud, losses and bad debt. Continuously critically reviewpolicies and procedures providing evidence-based recommendations forchange.
- Reviewing data, checking policy & procedure, and following adecision tree approach to either accept or decline the low risk /non-complex mortgage applications
- Data Entry and Processing: Inputting client and policy informationinto underwriting systems and databases.
- Communication Coordination: Acting as a liaison betweenunderwriters, brokers, clients, and other departments to gather necessaryinformation and provide updates.
- Policy Preparation: Assisting in the preparation and issuance ofinsurance policies and related documents.
- Compliance Support: Ensuring that all underwriting activitiesadhere to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Scheduling and Workflow Management: Coordinating meetings,deadlines, and workflow to support underwriting efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Administrative experience working within a Financial Servicesorganisation
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with insurance terminology, lending underwritingprocesses would be an advantage but not essential
- Proficiency in relevant software and databases.
