Full Stack Developer (Java / Python / Go) in Belfast

Contract Location: Belfast (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Contract Duration: 12 months initially (with strong potential for extension up to 2 years) with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role.

Location Requirements: This opportunity is open to candidates currently based in Belfast or those willing to relocate to Belfast for a hybrid working model.

In this role, you will design, build, and operate resilient, scalable, and secure applications and services that drive business value across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full Stack Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and robust full-stack applications and services using Python, Java, and/or Go.
• Cloud‑Native Engineering: Build and deploy containerized (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless applications on AWS and GCP, leveraging cloud‑native services for compute, data, and messaging.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and manage cloud infrastructure using IaC principles and tools such as Terraform and Ansible to ensure automated, repeatable, and secure environment provisioning.
• Operational Excellence (SRE): Embrace a 'you build it, you run it' philosophy. Take ownership of the entire lifecycle of your services, including automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
• Risk & Control Management: Adhere to technology standards and risk management frameworks. Identify, assess, and mitigate risks in your designs and code, ensuring all solutions are compliant with security policies and data regulations.
• CI/CD & Automation: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.
• Collaboration & Code Quality: Actively participate in code reviews and adhere to the Developer Manifesto principles, including owning your code, writing meaningful commit messages, and maintaining a clean and tidy repository.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer / Software Engineer (junior or senior level).
• Strong backend development expertise in Java, Python, or Go.
• Strong frontend/UI development experience.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code: Demonstrable knowledge of IaC tools such as Terraform and/or Ansible.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Harness, Tekton, etc.).
• Familiarity with serverless technologies (e.g. AWS Lambda).
• Understanding of monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Cloud certifications are beneficial but not required.
