The firm is committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct and behaviour. Where those standards are not met, colleagues are encouraged to report their concerns through a variety of routes including our Speak Up facility. The programmes by which we build awareness, communicate and train our people in the ethical expectations of the firm is overseen by the Ethics function, who also lead in-depth reviews as required to investigate allegations of potential ethical misconduct, and undertake a range of internal and externally reporting.
An opportunity has arisen for a senior manager to join the UK Ethics function. This individual’s primary responsibilities will be to lead on complex ethics investigations, as well as leading on ethics investigations long‑term strategy, approach and reporting. The individual will also play an important role in supporting the development of a high performing team and enhancing the team’s strategic development, planning and operational rigour.
Key responsibilities
Investigations
- Leverage your experience to lead/support complex, sensitive investigations into allegations of unethical conduct matters involving Equity Partners. Providing subject matter expertise, a high degree of emotional intelligence and exemplary objective judgement as part of a senior team investigating such cases. This includes gathering and analysing evidence, interviewing witnesses, preparing comprehensive investigation reports with findings and recommendations, and playing a key role in helping to guide senior partners as part of the review team.
- Evolve and update the overall Ethics investigations strategy, approach and processes (as part of the broader Ethics functional strategy) in response to changes in the internal and external landscape and taking into account best practice. This includes the development and delivery of case risk assessment, root cause analysis, templates and guidance documentation, and embedding new ways of working with the team and wider stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other Ethics team members to triage incoming reports and determine / recommend whether a matter should be investigated by Ethics or referred to another team. For those matters that do sit with the Ethics team, recommend the appropriate course of action.
- Contribute to the Ethics team’s support for staff‑related conduct cases, working in close collaboration with other stakeholders such as Employee Relations, HR and OGC.
- Support internal and external case reporting as needed, including ISQM1 (and soon, QC1000) and case trends analysis.
Other responsibilities
- Provide sound guidance and support as appropriate to people and partners facing ethical dilemmas and decision‑making.
- Drive a commitment to operational excellence, driving a continuous improvement mindset in processes, communications, excellent record‑keeping and investigative methodologies.
- Deliver in person and virtual ethics sessions to colleagues within the Businesses – for example, new joiners, ad hoc team sessions, Ethics roadshows and new partner training.
- Help develop and support a high performing team focused on individual and collective growth.

- Ability to handle challenging interpersonal situations, and a proven track record of demonstrating the utmost tact and discretion.
- Proven capability to exercise sound judgement that can be applied to complex ethical dilemmas, leading or supporting thorough investigations, and providing clear, actionable recommendations.
- A strategic thinker with excellent project management and organisational skills, capable of developing long‑term plans, prioritising effectively, and delivering against multiple priorities under pressure – enabling you to contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the Ethics function.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a specific focus on ethics and/or culture, with the ability to present complex information clearly, and influence diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain robust relationships across all levels of the firm, fostering collaboration and gaining credibility with key internal partners.
- Strong understanding of ethics and compliance best practices, emerging trends, and the ability to apply this knowledge to enhance programmes and investigative approaches.
- Proficient in tracking, analysing, and leveraging data to assess the effectiveness of various initiatives, identify areas for improvement and demonstrate measurable impact.
- A self‑motivated individual with the ability to deliver with minimal supervision, whilst contributing effectively within a high‑performing team environment.
- Practical knowledge of leveraging technology, including AI, to enhance efficiency, generate insights, and support various elements of the work.

National Quality and Risk Management

We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your \”Immediate Family Members\” are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
