The Credit & Restructuring Tax Team is a fast-growing team that provides market-leading expertise to a range of clients across a variety of situations. We are looking for Directors to work on a wide range of transactions, advising funds, institutional investors and borrowers undertaking transactions in the credit and restructuring markets. These can range from lending and borrowing, or buying and selling debt, to rescuing overleveraged businesses and supporting key stakeholders, and building long term relationships with those businesses and stakeholders as they recover and grow through further transactions.
Credit and restructuring transactions cover a broad range of interesting situations. Macroeconomic factors are currently fuelling a material increase in activity in this area, but it is also a key part of the market at any stage of the economic cycle, directing and redirecting financing to where it's most needed, to support growth. These transactions are varied and bespoke, involving UK and cross-border structuring advice.
Our team comprises a diverse group of high performing professionals who thrive on collaborating with clients to understand their commercial goals and supporting them with a range of varied, valued and challenging services. As a transactions focused team, we sit alongside and work closely with our M&A and Real Estate tax teams, as well as other specialist teams and other service lines, to provide joined-up comprehensive solutions to our clients.
You will be an integral member of the team, managing a portfolio of high profile clients and projects, developing and leading your own client relationships and developing more junior team members. You will be working alongside the partners in client teams as well as within wider global project teams. As a director in the team you will be integral to business development and growth initiatives. You will undertake certain leadership responsibilities in the team and play a meaningful role in talent development.
Deloitte takes your development seriously. You'll benefit from continuous training and a transparent, interactive appraisal process. You'll be empowered to manage your own workload and achieve career goals that you set yourself, in a team with a clear overarching strategy and a proven track record for strong progression. We encourage consideration of flexible ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients.
In this team, your role in the group would encompass some or all of the following:
- Advising on a broad array of tax issues across a range of transactions and situations.
- Managing and developing key relationships with clients, other members of the Credit & Restructuring team, and the wider Deloitte network of tax and non-tax specialists.
- Managing diverse teams (including from other Deloitte member firms) within an inclusive and collaborative team culture, where people are recognised for their contribution.
- Contributing to the eminence of our team within the wider Deloitte tax practice and in the market through knowledge sharing, thought leadership and client business development.
- Contributing to the growth and success of our team by supporting the professional development of our junior team members.
Experience and/or knowledge of any of private equity, credit or real estate funds and how they negotiate and invest would be preferred. A good appreciation of tax law and practice with strong attention to detail. Preferably qualified ACA or ATT/CTA or equivalent qualification and experience, or legal background. Ability to build strong relationships and articulate complex ideas in a pragmatic and commercial way. A team player that takes ownership of projects, uses initiative to resolve problems and works well under pressure, with the ability to adapt to change rapidly and respond to clients appropriately. Track record building client relationships and active participation in business development initiatives.
Innovation and tax consultancy may not seem to go together, but that's exactly what you'll find at Deloitte. We're constantly seeking the new and working together to push the limits of what's possible. Discover a new kind of tax career that you can make your own.
You'll be based in Leeds, London or Manchester (with occasional domestic and international travel) with hybrid working. We would also consider candidates based elsewhere in the UK, provided they are willing to travel on a regular basis. Our hybrid model enables our people to collaborate, connect and innovate in both a virtual and physical capacity. As well as remote working, you'll attend your local office, virtual collaboration spaces and client sites, depending on the requirements of the role.
Making an impact is more than just what we do: it's why we're here. So we work hard to create an environment where you can experience a purpose you believe in, the freedom to be you, and the capacity to go further than ever before. We want you. The true you. Your own strengths, perspective and personality. So we're nurturing a culture where everyone belongs, feels supported and heard, and is empowered to make a valuable, personal contribution.
