Finance Services have a new opportunity for an Expense Investigator to support with all areas of Expenses. This role will work alongside the existing Expense Manager and other team members to ensure the smooth running of the UK Expenses process, including compliance to policy and providing support to internal stakeholders and customers. The role will focus on review of non-compliance and triage initial investigations of potential cases.

This role will be part of the Finance Services team in our Enabling Functions.The team are based across the UK, supporting the UK comprising 26,000 Partners and staff including 50 regional UK offices.

The role is multi-disciplinary and is part of the wider Expenses team that is responsible for the following:

Expenses/Non-compliance

  • Routine reviews of spend to identify the potential risk of fraud
  • Initial review and triage of whistle blowing cases and further investigations as required
  • Working with the wider team to assist in audit queries
  • Any ad hoc projects as directed
  • Provide support to other stakeholders for case preparation, panel hearings
  • Working with HR and fraud/legal teams to ensure that investigations are carried out within policies and agreed protocols.
  • Working with HR/Payroll to recover funds owing to Deloitte, including external agencies
  • Ensure timely management of queries, keeping stakeholders updated
  • Monthly reporting to business stakeholders
  • Staying up to date with legislation changes that may impact existing processes and controls
  • Preparation of quarterly expenses fraud papers and/or attendance at relevant meeting
  • Work with external providers to improve reporting to aid non-compliance reduction
  • Support and deliver process improvements
  • Conducting training for practitioners when required
  • Deliver training courses to help ensure compliance to policy
  • Following up investigations with criminal or civil court actions working with other internal stakeholders
  • Making recommendations for changes to existing controls to improve effectiveness and/or efficiency because of issues identified, including policy changes

  • Previous experience working in an Expenses/Investigation Managerial role
  • Demonstrate strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a professional, friendly and approachable manner coupled with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels, especially when under pressure
  • Excellent customer service skills showing attention to detail and customer focus, with a good understanding of the customers’ needs and priorities
  • Good listener with a calm manner, and the ability to ask effective questions
  • Previous experience of SAP
  • Previous experience of Concur
  • Previous experience of working within a finance function
