Exciting opportunity for a technology disputes lawyer to join the Contentious Matters team within Deloitte's Quality, Risk and Security community. The Contentious Matters team manages all UK contentious legal and risk matters, focusing on regulatory enquiries, investigations, claims, public inquiries, reputational issues, complaints and evidence requests. The role supports teams across North South Europe, provides risk consultancy to Technology & Transformation and Audit & Assurance, leads project work on legal and risk subjects, advises on internal and external transactions and manages the firm's PII arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Proâactively manage a demanding case load of contentious matters, with a focus on matters arising from our T&T service line.
- Support the commercial reânegotiation of complex technology projects.
- Work with and coordinate a variety of internal stakeholders, including engagement teams, partners, risk teams, senior leadership and the media and communications team.
- Liaise confidently and independently with external stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, thirdâparty lawyers and external counsel.
- Contribute positively to the team's successes and high profile, by owning and developing legal and risk projects.
- Take an active role in the management, support and training of more junior members within the team and the wider legal and risk community.
- Work effectively in a diverse environment within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer with proven postâqualification experience as a technology disputes lawyer.
- Experience working at a respected private practice law firm and/or inâhouse, including through secondments.
- Interested in performing legal reviews to assess the merits and risk of legal positions, and undertaking deepâdive analyses of complex contentious matters and distressed projects.
- Able to apply such analysis to contract renegotiation and dispute resolution.
- Good analytical skills and demonstrated ability to articulate advice succinctly and recommend based on analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills.
- Strong team player with good organisation, planning and project management skills.
- Attention to detail and a consistent high level of quality.
- Highly motivated, with a proven ability to work on your own initiative within a challenging work environment.
- Strong numerical skills.
