We are seeking to hire an experienced professional with General Insurance and/or London Market and Global Reinsurance sector knowledge and enthusiasm to join our growing team. Join our market-leading Insurance strategy consulting team, widely recognised by our clients for our insight and deep sector expertise. We have extensive experience at the forefront of strategy and transformation as we serve leading players in the non-life insurance industry (insurers, brokers and others) as they build industry-leading solutions and deliver differentiated offerings.
Create impactful strategies: our work is highly varied, advising on some of the most ambitious strategic programmes in the sector, including:
- Growth and enterprise/business unit strategy
- Commercial analysis and business case development
- Strategic business and operating model design
- Market analyses, including competitive scanning and identifying opportunities for new market entry

Connect to your opportunity. As a Manager you will be delivering strategy work for our clients day-to-day. While no two projects are the same, you will typically be leading a workstream within a larger engagement, managing a small number of analysts or consultants, with oversight and support from a Senior Manager and leadership. You'll play a vital, hands-on role in designing and executing the strategic analysis required, conducting research, and assembling evidence, distilling insights, and constructing strategic recommendations.
Client engagements are predominantly with organisations facing important, often profound, transitions. Engagements are typically driven by CEOs, business unit leaders, and other members of the senior management team. Client engagements may be as short as a few months, but can also evolve into multi-year, wide-ranging and transformative relationships. As a Manager your responsibilities will include:
- To the client to articulate strategy and drive understanding and buy-in from stakeholders
- Executing rigorous and insightful analysis (quantitative and qualitative) to build an evidence base to support strategy development and change, and developing a logical flow to tell a story when presenting deliverables
- Mastery of strategy tools and frameworks to solve client problems, and sharing best practice within the team
- Independently leading a workstream or small project, and effectively shaping the project structure and appropriate methodology to diagnose the issue and deliver the core objective(s)
- Actively manage and mentor junior colleagues to ensure successful project delivery
- Communicates clearly and concisely, with confidence, staying solution-focused and tailored to audience
- Working closely with clients and internal stakeholders, developing strong professional relationships and liaising across Deloitte to deliver a seamless client experience
- Proactively developing your own skills, seeking feedback, building knowledge, and sharing your insight with colleagues
- Leads practice development initiatives and manages junior team members in executing their tasks effectively
- Supporting development of the Insurance Strategy community and team, and supporting business development with clients

As this role focuses on the non-life insurance sector, candidates should demonstrate a background in financial services and a desire to progress a career in insurance.
As a Manager, you must have:
- A strong academic record, an undergraduate degree or equivalent
- Extensive proven track record of direct experience in strategy consulting in either the General Insurance, or the global commercial, specialty, reinsurance and/or London Markets sub-sector with a consulting firm, or as part of an established in-house strategy, corporate development or transformation team at Group/Division level
- Ability to construct and evidence strategic arguments, with creativity in identifying evidence sources to support your positions and the ability to use that evidence to build financial and non-financial quantitative analysis
- An understanding of the non-life insurance market (UK global commercial, specialty and/or London Markets and/or UK general insurance market) and its dynamics, with a desire to build a career in this area
- Experience with problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, decision-making facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder management
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional time management skills to manage competing priorities across client service, practice development, and business development responsibilities
We are looking for applicants who can clearly demonstrate the following:
- Outstanding records of academic/professional achievement
- Industry or sector-specific qualifications (e.g. completion of courses or relevant certificates)
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of relevant products and distribution in the sub-sector and their impact on the strategies of brokers and carriers
- Understanding of insurance P&Ls and balance sheets for UK general insurers, global commercial/specialty insurers, reinsurance companies and London Market businesses
- Strong record of leadership in an academic, professional, and/or extracurricular setting
- Exceptional intellectual horsepower, including strong critical thinking skills, analytical abilities, and the capacity for lateral/creative thinking to solve ambiguous problems
- An entrepreneurial spirit with experience in business development
