Our Assurance practice encompasses skills across regulation and finance with a deep analytics capability. We harness these to provide Assurance to those charged with governance, serving the public interest. We provide independent assurance by assessing the risks and underlying processes, providing conclusions as to which risks are being managed and mitigated in line with the business' appetite for risk. Deloitte's assurance offerings help those charged with governance to understand their business and build trust amongst key stakeholders and regulators.
The Regulatory Assurance Insurance Team is a market-leading group of industry experts. We work exclusively in the insurance sector and we specialise in advisory and assurance work, providing practical, commercial solutions to global clients which require a deep understanding of the market and its regulatory context. We provide this advice through various product offerings, including assurance reporting, control testing and assurance, framework design and implementation support, and development and deployment of RegTech.
The team has built a reputation for providing pragmatic advice and assurance, as well as innovative technology solutions, positioning itself at the cutting edge of emerging regulatory trends by working closely with regulators, industry bodies and clients and conducting its own market research. Controls assurance is a growing area across the insurance industry, driven by regulatory focus and increasing Board expectations.
We are looking for someone to help support and develop the controls work we do with firms across the industry, including with FTSE 100 insurers, insurance intermediaries and Lloyd's and London Market insurers. Whilst focusing on controls, our ideal candidate will also be happy to work on broader regulatory and risk management projects.
The work conducted by our Regulatory Assurance Team is varied and so are the responsibilities of team members. We do not expect candidates to cover all of the below responsibilities however responsibilities may include some of the below:
- Working on a portfolio of client engagements simultaneously, managing internal and client stakeholders' expectations;
- Helping clients to anticipate and assess the impact of regulatory change;
- Providing clients with practical and technical advice with regards to internal control frameworks, controls and control oversight;
- Performing control testing;
- Providing subject matter expertise, advice and recommendations on topics to help clients anticipate, assess and respond to regulatory requirements;
- Developing your critical thinking and other analytical skills in explaining regulatory expectations and their impact for clients, including through: Reviewing and inputting into the enhancement of policies, procedures and other work products; and Completion of Deloitte reviews;
- Engaging and work effectively in a wide range of teams and alongside subject matter experts across Deloitte to provide clients with the expertise to best meet their needs.
Practical experience in one or more of the following areas is expected:
- A background in Insurance, Risk Management, external/internal audit or relevant controls, or equivalent experience from another professional services firm
- Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks and market practice with respect to risk management and controls
- Controls testing or equivalent experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills β both written and verbal
- Experience in delivering presentations and pitches
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexible thinking
- Aptitude with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Confident client presence and ability to build contacts and develop relationships
- Ability to develop effective working relationships internally and with clients
- Strong team leadership skills and proven ability to lead challenging projects and large teams
- Positive and ambitious attitude, and ability to work on own initiative
- Educated to degree level or equivalent required
