We are seeking experienced and technical professionals with an accounting assurance and/or industry background to join our fast growing team, share in our vision, support our growth plans and make an impact that matters on our clients, our people, our business and society.
The role offers a variety of exciting opportunities to add value to our clients through a range of projects, including complex accounting assurance services, pre and post transaction support, GAAP conversions and new accounting standard support. The Accounting Advisory group is a dedicated team of IFRS and UK GAAP experts that seek to use the accounting standards constructively and positively to help clients achieve their desired objectives β be it providing expert input and challenge to transactions or providing the assurance that their IFRS or GAAP reporting will stand up to scrutiny.
We are currently recruiting for the following industry groups:
- Banking and Capital Markets (including Blockchain and Digital Assets)
- Commodities across metals, energy and agri commodities
Responsibilities:
- You will be part of a team providing high quality accounting advice to our clients, specifically:
- Challenging firms on the implementation and application of new accounting standards and accounting for new products and structured transactions
- Assisting the lead subject matter experts for the audit teams on structured transactions and complex accounting judgements
- Providing seamless joined up expert input alongside other Deloitte teams such as tax, risk, and regulatory experts
- Providing transaction accounting support to audit teams and assurance clients
- Performing accounting policy and financial statements reviews
- Working as part of diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
- Technical accounting research and delivering high-quality technical outputs, such as accounting memorandums, structuring papers, regulatory analyses, and client presentations.
- Assist in organising and providing technical trainings.
- Contributing to business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients.
- Independently and proactively run risk formalities to onboard a client.
We are looking for candidates who, in addition to the above:
- Want to be better than the rest at using IFRS and/or UK GAAP to solve firm issues
- Want to learn how to build internal and external networks
- Can contribute in practice development and thought leadership activities
- Are open to sharing their knowledge, experiences and lessons learned with the team
To qualify for this opportunity, you must have the following experience/skills:
- Experience of working within the accounting team of a professional services firm, accounting policy department or front office within relevant industry or delivering large listed IFRS or UK GAAP audits within relevant industry
- A relevant accounting qualification (ACA or equivalent)
- Ability to work on accounting input for complex IFRS and/or UK GAAP accounting issues
- Practical understanding of businesses within the industry you are applying for
- Clear and confident written and spoken communication, including presentations, with the ability to explain complex topics simply.
- Strong people skills, able to build good relationships and work confidently with stakeholders at all levels
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to understand and work with complex information.
- A practical problem solver who makes sound decisions and uses technical accounting knowledge to find effective solutions.
- Self-motivated and resilient, able to work well under pressure.
