This role sits within Deloitte’s Engineering Platforms team — part of our Business Technology offering within Technology & Transformation. Our mission is to build, run and evolve the platforms that power Deloitte’s managed services and digital solutions across Cloud, AI and Data. We design and manage the firm’s next-generation multi-cloud environments, enabling secure, automated, and scalable operations that underpin innovation across our clients and internal platforms.

As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll be joining our OpenCloud Engineering team — the group responsible for the daily operation, automation, and continual improvement of Deloitte’s enterprise cloud environments across Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This team underpins the firm’s internal and client-facing managed services, ensuring that our multi-cloud foundations remain secure, efficient, and evergreen.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Deloitte’s multi-cloud engineering team — a hands-on role focused on operating and improving the cloud platforms that power Deloitte’s managed services, internal systems, and client delivery capabilities.

You’ll be part of a cross-cloud operations team that supports day-to-day cloud activities across Azure, GCP, and AWS, including project and account provisioning, environment monitoring, compliance checks, automation, and reporting. You’ll also contribute to developing automation scripts, maintaining operational runbooks, and working with engineers to improve platform stability, efficiency, and security.

This role is ideal for someone looking to develop and grow as a cloud engineer — building practical experience across multiple major cloud platforms while learning from senior engineers and architects in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day operation of Deloitte’s multi-cloud environments (Azure, GCP, AWS), ensuring stability, compliance, and security.
  • Provision and decommission cloud projects, subscriptions, and accounts in line with firm policies and governance frameworks.
  • Carry out daily platform checks, monitoring activities, and health reviews, escalating issues as required.
  • Assist in troubleshooting cloud-related incidents and supporting service restoration.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational tooling using Python, PowerShell, or Terraform.
  • Contribute to runbook creation and the improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support the generation of regular reports on usage, cost, and compliance metrics.
  • Work with senior engineers to implement security guardrails, tagging standards, and resource optimisation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Cyber, and Operations to maintain alignment with Deloitte’s OpenCloud platform and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline manual processes through orchestration and cloud-native tooling.
Connect to your skills and professional experience
  • Hands-on experience or strong foundational knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
  • Good understanding of core cloud services — including compute, storage, networking, and IAM concepts.
  • Basic experience with automation tools or scripting languages (e.g. Python, PowerShell, or Terraform).
  • Aware of cloud security and compliance best practices.
  • Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and documentation abilities, with a collaborative approach to working in a team.
  • A willingness to learn across multiple cloud environments and adopt new technologies.
  • UK residency and ability to obtain government security clearance if required.
  • Relevant entry or mid-level cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer.
  • Exposure to automation or orchestration frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience working within Agile or DevOps-based delivery environments.
  • Basic understanding of ITIL or operational processes in managed service contexts.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
