Deloitte's market-leading Indirect Tax practice has grown rapidly over the last five years. To continue that growth, Deloitte is looking for high calibre resource at the Manager grade. Our national Indirect Tax practice is regarded within Deloitte as one of the leading and most successful service lines – with a reputation for being proactive, entrepreneurial, successful, and fun to work with. The Indirect Tax group works with clients across a number of industries including Financial Services, Real Estate, Public Sector, Consumer Business, Energy and Technology, Global Trade Advisory, and Media and Telecoms. We work with the largest and most influential clients across these industries – providing both advisory and compliance Indirect Tax services. Applicants can either focus and work within a specific industry, or if they prefer, work across a range of industries.

Working in the Indirect Tax team you will get exposure to a variety of projects including multi-million pound property transactions, international supply chain structuring, corporate transactions, and advising on the impact of topical developments such as e-invoicing and Digital VAT Reporting. The work can be varied between advisory and compliance, and in line with client's operations, is often global in nature and provides the chance to broaden knowledge and interact with Deloitte's global network regularly.

You will be given the autonomy to establish your own client contacts and build your own business and relationships. Whilst autonomy is encouraged, the team will always be available when you need support and advice.

You will have responsibility for:

  • Leading teams in order to deliver high quality Indirect Tax advice for our largest and most influential clients;
  • Managing Analysts in order to undertake research on Indirect Tax technical matters and being able to deliver and provide pragmatic advice to your clients;
  • Keeping abreast of Indirect Tax updates and how this can impact our clients;
  • Understanding new legislation and digital initiatives (e.g., AI) and distilling this down for our clients and your internal team members;
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships with the support of your senior leadership team;
  • Inputting into development of new market opportunities locally, nationally and internationally with an opportunity to lead the market development of the new ideas;
  • Working closely with colleagues in other parts of the firm;
  • As a Manager, working well to both effectively delegate to Analysts and work directly with senior leadership including Associate Directors, Directors, and/or Partners.

To qualify for the role, you should have:

  • VAT experience either in practice, industry, or within HMRC;
  • A good understanding of UK VAT legislation and interpretation of case law;
  • Preferably ATT/CTA qualified (or holding an equivalent qualification);
  • Strong written and technical work;
  • Preferably experience of managing teams;
  • Excellent client facing, relationship building, and business development skills;
  • The ability to be proactive, identify opportunities, and take ownership of client accounts.
