About the Team
Deliveroo's Risk & Insurance team protects and strengthens our business by managing corporate insurance programmes and mitigating risk across programme management, claims operations, and risk assessment. We operate at the intersection of risk, legal, finance, and operations to support business growth across every market we enter.
About the Role
As an Insurance Manager, you'll lead risk management initiatives ensuring our insurance programmes align with business growth. You'll manage programme renewals, assess and mitigate risk across our business verticals, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive resilience as Deliveroo continues to scale internationally. This is an individual contributor role at the outset, with the expectation of building and leading a small team as the function grows. Reports to the Director of Risk & Insurance, based in London.
What you'll be doing
- Own and manage Deliveroo's international insurance programme including workers compensation, general liability, property, and specialty lines across all territories.
- Lead annual renewal cycles: programme structuring, data preparation and submission, carrier and broker engagement, coverage benchmarking, and binding.
- Review contracts and define insurance requirements for new verticals, products, and partnerships - assessing risk and setting coverage standards for new business initiatives.
- Manage certificates of insurance (COIs) for events, partnerships, and external engagements.
- Oversee vendor onboarding, NDAs, and insurance requirements for third-party relationships.
- Build and maintain carrier relationships in the London market; represent Deliveroo and Wolt programmes directly with underwriters.
- Produce clear risk reporting and programme analysis for senior leadership; process and interpret actuarial and renewal data.
- Partner with legal, product, operations, and commercial teams to identify and quantify emerging risks as the business evolves.
- Apply AI and analytical tools to risk modelling, coverage analysis, and programme benchmarking.
Requirements
Essential
- Insurance industry experience - whether in broking, in-house risk management, or a combination. Broker background from a major firm preferred.
- Experience reviewing insurance contracts, policy documents, and coverage terms - with the attention to detail to spot gaps and challenge language.
- International market knowledge beyond the UK alone.
- Commercially minded: able to translate complex insurance concepts for non-specialist stakeholders across legal, finance, and operations.
- Strong document creation and presentation skills; able to build carrier decks and communicate programme position clearly.
- Proficient with AI tools and data analysis.
- Ability to work independently and take decisions without day-to-day oversight.
Desirable
- Experience with, or genuine understanding of, platform and gig economy business models and the associated risk profile.
- CII qualification (Cert CII, Dip CII, or ACII) or equivalent professional accreditation.
- People management experience, or demonstrable readiness to build and develop a small team.
- Exposure to captive structures, self-insurance layers, or corporate programme design.
