About the team
The Foundations team builds the core systems and tooling that enable DoorDash and Deliveroo’s engineers to develop, ship and operate software at scale. We treat infrastructure, CI/CD and developer tooling as software products, engineered with the same care as customer-facing systems. Our mission is to increase engineering velocity, reliability and security across Deliveroo as we transform the way the world eats and shops.
About the role
As an engineer in this space, you will operate at the intersection of software engineering and cloud infrastructure. You’ll write production-quality code to build automation and internal tooling, while also designing and running scalable systems in AWS. This is a hands‑on role focused on improving how software is built, deployed and operated across the organisation — balancing coding, infrastructure design and operational excellence.
What you’ll be doing
- Writing and maintaining software (primarily in Go) to automate infrastructure, improve developer workflows and enhance platform capabilities
- Designing, deploying and operating secure, scalable systems in AWS
- Designing, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Buildkite and related tooling
- Implementing infrastructure as code and improving automation across environments
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex build, deployment and production issues across application and infrastructure layers
- Improving observability, reliability and performance of internal platforms and production systems
- Partnering with engineering teams to define best practices for deployment, release management and cloud architecture
- Contributing to technical design discussions and driving continuous improvement across DevOps practices
Requirements
- Strong experience building and operating CI/CD systems using tools such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI or Buildkite
- Experience writing and maintaining production-quality software, including proficiency in a language such as Go
- Solid AWS knowledge, including core services, networking, IAM and cloud‑native architecture principles
- Experience working with GitHub, including workflow automation and repository management
- Experience with infrastructure as code and automated environment management
- Strong understanding of reliability, observability and operational best practices
- Ability to debug complex systems and work effectively across multiple engineering teams
