Line‑manage Security and Software Engineers as part of the London‑based Proactive Security team. Lead, scope and set project goals, continuing to support and develop your team. Grow a diverse, highly‑skilled group of Security and Software engineers, gaining exposure to scaling a tech team at a unique pace with global reach. Create a learning environment and act as a “player‑coach” mentor for engineers, up‑and‑coming tech leads and managers. Improve and implement processes and values that scale effectively. Provide technical mentorship to engineers building and deploying large‑scale services globally. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including core product, infrastructure, design, operations and others.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience as a Senior Engineering Manager with direct experience leading Security Product or Security Engineering teams.
- Experience managing both Managers and Individual Contributors.
- Strong technical skills, architectural knowledge, problem‑solving ability, and experience setting strategic direction with cloud‑native infrastructure.
- Experience as a Software Engineer or Security Engineer and Manager building security products at scale.
- Collaborative and supportive “player‑coach” management style encouraging continuous optimisation of processes and practices.
- Ability to set clear goals and offer deeply technical advice, setting your team up for success.
- Experience building teams, recruiting, and partnering with the Recruiting Team.
- Cross‑functional work experience and collaborative problem‑solving.
- Experience as a Software Engineering Manager in an Information Security or Infrastructure Engineering discipline.
- Track record of leading a team to improve a company's infrastructure security posture.
- Breadth of technical experience across various infrastructure and security areas in large production environments.
- Highly skilled in distributed systems and platforms using Java/Scala/Kotlin, Go, Python or similar languages.
- Deep expertise with cloud infrastructure in AWS and/or GCP.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑tier global teams, including running Tier 0 services with high SLO and no downtime.
- Executive‑level communication skills and ability to influence partners without formal authority.
- Skill in prioritising complex portfolios and making decisive calls under pressure.
- Exceptional experience solving complex, systemic issues that require creative thinking and solutions.
- Exceptional analytical and investigative abilities with hands‑on experience leading root‑cause analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reviewing design documents related to cloud infrastructure, security and engineering personnel.
- Comfortable exercising discretion and independent judgement in performing job duties with minimal supervision.
