At Deliveroo we\’re striving to build the industry\’s best engineering organisation. Our teams are solving unique and difficult problems at scale.
The AI Agent and ML Platform teams build and maintain infrastructure, tools and platform capabilities to accelerate the AI Agent and Machine Learning at Deliveroo and set the product teams up for success. The ML platform covers the entire ML development lifecycle, including model experimentation, training, feature engineering, and serving at scale and the AI Agent platform supports tooling for RAG, workflow orchestration and Agent Evaluation with a strong focus on observability.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who has a strong technical background and has worked as a software engineer and has worked closely, in or with, AI/ML Platforms in past roles. You will report into a Senior Engineering Manager or Engineering Director.
What you\\\’ll be doing
- As a manager you will lead one or more teams of Backend and Platform Engineers building centralised services and capabilities to accelerate product development.
- Contribute to technical strategy and drive the team roadmap with Staff engineers and the team.
- Accountable for technical delivery and operational excellence in the team.
- Build good relationships with the cross functional partners like Product Managers, TPMs, and Senior Leadership.
- Grow a diverse, accomplished group of engineers, gaining fantastic exposure to scaling a tech team at a unique pace.
- Create a learning environment for your team and act as a mentor for engineers and up and coming leaders.
- Become instrumental in improving and implementing processes and values that scale.
Requirements
- Experience as a line manager to a team, with at least 3 years of experience
- Experience as a Software Engineer building user-focused and platform products at pace
- Experience working with cross functional stakeholders – product, data, and science managers, and senior leadership
- Experience collaborating with peers, and directs, with a mentality to encourage your team to improve their code
- Experience taking your team through performance reviews and goal setting, offering advice and setting your team up for success
- Experience building a high performing team
