We are seeking a Shift Manager within our Bakery producing bread products for the Food Service industry. You will work on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern covering 12 hour days from 6.00 to 18.00 hours. The shift will be up to 35 people and you will need to have a hands-on approach.
Manage and continuously monitor all aspects of the bakery and shift to ensure scheduled volumes are achieved, at budgeted cost, quality and efficiency standards. Achieve the KPI’s as set by the Production Manager including OEE, waste, downtime, absenteeism, labour costs per tonne, labour turnover, accident frequency, complaints and service level.
Overall responsibility for the safety of the product and for carrying out Critical Control Point check procedures (CCP metal detection and CCP scarification) or ensuring that such procedures are carried out by competent personnel in accordance with relevant procedures including OPRP sieving, OPRP traceability, PRP cleaning, OPRP baking and PRP allergens. Overall responsibility for the adherence to the traceability system. General allergen awareness and ability to avoid any potential cross-contamination. Responsible for ensuring site security procedures are followed at all times to ensure product integrity during the shift, especially nights and weekends. Undertake any other duties, projects or responsibilities as required by the Operations Management team.
Management of the shift team to ensure all staff, including agency workers, are fully trained and competent to fulfil operational needs and are fully aware of Company Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Hygiene policies and procedures. Establish and maintain effective two-way communication to ensure employees feel involved, informed and valued to build loyalty, commitment and higher levels of performance. Responsible for prompt investigation of any accidents or incidents on shift, including food safety related matters, ensuring timely and accurate completion of paperwork. Ensure any corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
Ideally, 3+ years experience as a Manager or Team Leader within a manufacturing business, ideally food. We are seeking someone with proven people management skills, who is able to coach and develop the team to meet shift targets. A hands-on approach to teamworking and ability to perform machine setting duties. A good understanding of Food Safety and Quality standards is desirable. Experience of GMP and lean processes. Ability to work on own initiative and make decisions. A high level of computer skills.
