As a people manager within DDF, it is your role to establish and maintain the performance of your team utilising management skills to deliver the required business results. You will be expected to display certain key behaviours such as being an effective role model who has high performance expectations of yourself and your team along with the ability to offer individual support and coaching. The purpose of the Sales Manager role is to support, direct and coach team members to deliver their KPIs through developing their skills and competencies. You will ensure that the team have all the tools and information required to achieve their targets.
Reporting & Key Contacts
Managing a team of Sales Development Representatives (SDR), the team size will vary by geography (broadly split between North & South) with a maximum of 12 direct reports. Reporting to the Field Sales Controller, this role will need to work closely with Channel Managers, Channel Executives, Customer Engagement, Marketing & Hardware to ensure consistent and seamless service delivery to maximise all opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, engage & motivate field sales team members to ensure KPIs are met.
- Support & manage the field sales team to win new business and to maintain their territory ledger & develop year on year growth.
- Working with the Field Sales Controller, develop an annual plan for the field sales team to deliver their KPIs.
- Work within the Channel Teams to deliver account plans at a sold to level on accounts which receive field coverage.
- Deliver in person coaching through field accompaniments & audits to develop the teams skills and knowledge.
- Ensure that all Team members have the required skill & product knowledge levels to deliver against KPIs.
- Organise further training where required to support skill & product knowledge development.
- Complete a full induction for all SDR new starters.
- Run a team meeting every Quarter, ensure that all objectives for the forward Quarter are briefed & the Team have a clear KPI action plan.
- Promptly respond to all customer enquiries to make sure all issues are addressed & resolved as quickly as possible.
- Ensure team have plans in place for maintaining ledger.
- Identify & manage poor performers through development plans & personal improvement plans.
- Manage absence through RTW interviews.
- Carry out investigations where appropriate.
- Ensure half year, full year reviews as well as individual development plans are completed within published deadlines.
- Apply all HR policies and processes as required and appropriate.
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge and experience of foodservice & retail.
- Minimum of 3 years people management experience.
- Field Sales & Account Management experience.
- Experience of managing, training & coaching field based teams.
- Strong organisational, planning & time management skills.
- Strong negotiation skills with ability to influence at all levels.
- Confident communication skills; verbal, written & numerical.
- Demonstrable drive, enthusiasm & commitment.
